Mike Russell, a former New Jersey state trooper, has written
a new book describing how he helped take down the mob.
The book —Undercover Cop: How I Brought Down the Real-Life
Sopranos — talks about how 200 cops took down 45 wiseguys on Sept. 26, 1986,
according to a report in the New York Daily News.
Russell also tells of taking a bullet to the head, supplying
information on a plan to assassinate Rudy Giuliani and stripping down to his
underwear in front of a gang of riled mobsters.
Russell, who wrote the book with Patrick Picciarelli, first
went undercover to sniff around a Luchese crew in Newark.
The book is out Aug. 6, and Dreamworks has bought the rights
to his life story. The movie will be titled “Undercover Cop” and Jason Segal is
attached, according to the Daily News.
