Jerusalem - During a recent meeting with the French
Ambassador to Israel, Christopher Bidot, Haredi MK Meir Porush (Yahadut
Hatorah) warned that if haredis are forced into IDF service, then many Jews
will no longer view Israel as a national home, and that it will have “far reaching
consequences.”
ARUTZ SHEVA Reports
that, during the conversation, Porush reminded Bidot of Israel’s first Prime
Minister David Ben-Gurion’s “declaration” that Israel is the “national
homeland” of every Jew, and reiterated Ben-Gurion’s promise to haredi religious
leaders that he would “respect” their “way of life.”
Porush said haredis will “declare” and let the “whole world
know” that Israel is “not the home” of those who keep the Torah.
