Lakewood, NJ - Student Suffers Serious Injuries Jumping from Yeshiva

A 24-year-old man suffered serious injuries when he apparently jumped off an overhang outside of a window at a Jewish school here today, police said.

The man, who wasn’t identified, jumped more than 20 feet from an overhang at a Jewish school on Joe Parker Road at about 2:30 p.m., according to Detective Capt. Paul Daly, unit commander.

Daly said the man was a student from outside of the state. He said an investigation showed there was no foul play involved.

The student suffered broken ankles and a broken pelvis, he said.

An investigation by Patrolmen Rodney Youmans and Susan Mannik showed the man apparently climbed out a window on the second floor, then onto the overhang and jumped, Daly said.

The man was taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune where he was admitted.

While there were as many as 100 people inside the dormitory when the man jumped, Daly said only a couple of people in the area outside saw him fall.
