Jason Kidd, NY Knicks point guard, arrested for DWI

Basketball star Jason Kidd was arrested for driving drunk on Long Island early Sunday when he crashed his luxury SUV into a telephone pole after partying at a club, police and sources said.

Kidd, 39, who just signed a three-year, $9.5 million deal with the Knicks last week, crashed his 2010 Cadillac Escalade on Cobb Rd. near his home in exclusive Water Mill just before 2 a.m., cops said.

The future Hall of Famer’s wild night began Saturday at a benefit hosted by rapper Ne-Yo honoring George Lucas, held at the private East Hampton estate of Bill and Michele Nuti, CEO of NCR and Chairman of Sprint.

From there Kidd and his wife, former model Porschla Coleman, headed to nearby club SL East, sources say.

His wife eventually headed home, leaving Kidd behind at the rowdy club, known for ultra-pricey bottle service and topless dancing patrons.

Kidd was the only passenger when he crashed on his way home.

He was treated for minor injuries and released from Southampton Hospital before being arraigned Sunday morning on misdemeanor charges of DWI.

He was released without bail.

Twitter lit up Sunday over Kidd’s antics.

“So Jason Kidd got a DUI and crashed into a pole,” one basketball fan tweeted. “He was never good driving in the lane.”

Kidd pled guilty in 2001 to a domestic violence charge stemming from an incident involving his ex-wife, Joumana.

He led the Nets to back-to-back Finals appearances before winning a title with the Dallas Mavericks in 2011.

After signing with the Knicks, Kidd was expected to mentor fellow point guard Jeremy Lin, but Lin now appears to be heading to the Houston Rockets.
