Miami Cops at war: Excrement dumped on patrol car

Spark: The feud was started when FHP Trooper Donna Watts arrested Miami Police Officer Fausto Lopez at gunpoint after he was speeding

Suspect: It is believed the excrement came from a port-a-potty and was dumped by Miami police officers, though this is still under investigation

The Miami police versus Florida Highway Patrol battle just got a whole lot dirtier.

Over the weekend, a Miami City commissioner-turned-trooper discovered that five gallons of human excrement had been poured over his car while it was sat outside his home.

An amateur video was recently released of two Florida Highway Patrol troopers apparently speeding down a highway.

The feud was sparked off by a video leaked last month of FHP Trooper Donna Watts pulling over, arresting and detaining a speeding Miami Police officer at gunpoint.

When she recorded officer Fausto Lopez driving 120mph to an off-duty job, she pursued and then pulled him over and arrested him.

Law enforcement officers say the incident caused major friction between the agencies and now the new video, which CBS believe was shot by an unidentified police officer, appears to be a direct response to the Watts Lopez video.

Rumours have been circulating that city police are attempting to get their revenge on the troopers, especially after Joe Sanchez found the excrement - which appear to have come from a port-a-potty - all over his car.

FHP Union President Bill Smith told CBS: 'I think it’s just some disgruntled employees of other agencies, hopefully it’s not the City of Miami, I don’t know.

I think it’s just some disgruntled employees of other agencies, hopefully it’s not the City of Miami, I don’t know.

He added that his agency would investigate and also the speeding troopers, if the officer who shot the video would come forward with more information.

Despite the growing feud, Trooper Smith says everyone behind a badge will help each other when it counts.

They might glare at each other but I really honestly think they’ll be back there to back each other up.

  2. I support the trooper that stopped the speeding officer. If it had been a emergency he would have had lights and sirens on. It wasn't an emergency. He was speeding and using a police car to do it. No excuse. And, who's to say that the police car was being driven by an officer. For all the trooper knew it may have been stolen. FHP are awesome. They are helpful and polite unlike some of the police departments (although not all are bad). There would have been no question about an arrest if this had been a normal citizen speeding. So why question when its a normal citizen who happens to be in a police uniform and driving a police car?
