Police at the scene of the Bronx shooting, that left a 4-year-old boy fighting for his life
4-year-old boy was fighting for his life last night after being shot in the chest during an apparent robbery in The Bronx, law-enforcement sources said.
The boy, identified by family as Cincer Balthazar, was with his father at about 10:30 p.m. outside a halfway house at Grand Avenue and Evelyn Place when, according to the dad, two crooks tried to rob them and opened fire.
“He’s my world,” said a woman who only identified herself as the boy’s aunt. “He’s our little Spider-Man. He always walked around with a Spider-Man mask.”
Sources said the father told cops that he was approached by the robbers and that one pulled a gun and fired, hitting the boy.
It’s not clear what happened next, but cops are investigating whether the dad got the gun, chased the crooks and shot one.
A 17-year-old man was found shot around the corner. After the gunfire, the dad left the scene and later returned to visit the boy at the hospital, sources said.
The dad said he had been taking his son to a University Heights shelter where the boy lived with his mother.
Family members said they expected the boy to pull through.
