In this grab image from a video clip Police arrests Heather Carpenter
New York - New York City has been sued by a couple who say they were unjustly swept up in arrests during last month’s Occupy Wall Street demonstrations.
The lawsuit by Heather Carpenter and Julio Jose Jimenez-Artunduaga (AHR’-tuhn-dwah-gah) seeks unspecified damages for their Oct. 15 encounter outside a Greenwich Village Citibank branch.
They allege they were subjected to false arrest, excessive force and deprivation of their constitutional rights during mass arrests.
The lawsuit said Carpenter had closed an account to protest a $17 monthly fee. It says she had gone outside when an undercover officer grabbed her from behind and carried her back to the bank. She was handcuffed along with her boyfriend. The charges were later dropped.
The city law office did not immediately respond to a request for comment Monday.
The arrest of Heather Carpenter and her fiancé, Julio Jose Jiminez-Artunduaga, begins at about 1:27 of below video.
