A woman died after she passed out and fell in front of train at an upper East Side station Wednesday, police said.

The woman fainted on the subway platform at Lexington Ave. and E. 77th St. and tumbled to the tracks just as a rerouted uptown No. 5 train rolled into the station about 3:10 p.m., cops said.

The train hit the woman, described only as being in her 20s, and she died at the scene.

"I was in the train when [she] got hit," said Nicole Katzender, 26, who was about three cars back from the front.

"I felt the noise from the impact of the body," she said.

Another straphanger on the train said the doors didn't open to the humid platform for about 20 minutes.

"It was terrible," said Claudia Ospina, 39. "I was in shock. It was crazy."

An MTA spokesman said local service was still shut down a couple of hours later and all trains were running express between Grand Central and 125th St.
