NEW YORK - New York's Fifth Avenue is awash in the blue and white of the Israeli flag.
Thousands are marching Sunday in the Celebrate Israel Parade.
Organizers say the annual parade is the largest in the world celebrating the founding of the Jewish state in 1948.
Mayor Michael Bloomberg and Gov. Andrew Cuomo are among the marchers.
Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly is keeping a close eye on security. He said his job "is to make sure everything goes well."
Some marchers are carrying signs criticizing President Barack Obama's policy speech on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict last month.
Obama said Israel's boundaries before the 1967 Mideast war should be the starting point for negotiations on future borders.
