Fox News mistakenly airs image of Tina Fey in Sarah Palin segment

Tina Fey's impersonation of Sarah Palin was so good that even Fox News cannot tell them apart.

During a segment on whether Palin will run for the 2012 Republican presidential nomination, the cable news outlet aired a photo of Fey posing as the former Alaska governor.

This is not the first time Fox News has mixed up footage of their own contributor.

Fox News misused footage in November 2009 during a segment on Palin's visit to Grand Rapids, Mich., to promote her book "Going Rogue." The station aired a video of Palin waving to fans, while host Gregg Jarrett commented that the images were "some of the pictures just coming in to us."

The footage, however, was from a McCain/Palin rally in 2008.

Host Jane Skinner quickly apologized for the mistake. "We didn't mean to mislead anybody in that tease," Skinner said. "It was a mistake, and for that we apologize."

In 2009, the station's management sent a memo to employees warning about future on-screen errors.

"Effective immediately, there is zero tolerance for on-screen errors," the memo states. "Mistakes by any member of the show team that end up on air may result in immediate disciplinary action against those who played significant roles in the 'mistake chain,' and those who supervise them."
