NEW YORK  - The teenage daughter of the late pop icon Michael Jackson was reportedly hospitalized after a suicide attempt.

Celebrity website TMZ reported that Paris Jackson, 15, was rushed from her home in Calabasas, Calif.,  to a hospital at about 2 a.m. on Wednesday.

TMZ sited sources who said Jackson had cut her wrists using a meat cleaver.

Late Tuesday night, Jackson posted two cryptic Tweets:  "i wonder why tears are salty ?" and "yesterday , all my troubles seemed so far away now it looks as though they're here to stay."

Jackson, the second child of the so-called 'King of Pop' and ex-wife Debbie Rowe, was reportedly doing OK.

Rowe confirmed to Entertainment Tonight that Paris Jackson was hospitalized.

People.com quoted a spokesman for the Los Angeles County Fire Department as saying paramedics responded to a 911 call at 1:27 a.m. at the Jackson home "regarding a possible overdose."

TMZ reported that Jackson had taken a large number of Motrin pills.
