Plane held, Passenger at LaGuardia arrested for comment

A Spirit Airlines passenger was hauled into police custody at LaGuardia Airport in Queens today after making threatening comments to a fellow passenger as their plane was about to take off for Florida, authorities said.

The man who allegedly made the threats was pulled off Flt. 197, bound for Fort Lauderdale, just before 11 a.m., said a spokesman for the Port Authority. He was described as a 30-year-old from upstate Spring Valley.

Passengers had to be taken off the plane and their baggage rescreened because of the incident, law-enforcement sources said.

Police found there was no credible threat, and flight has been cleared for takeoff again, the spokesman said.

The suspect was charged with filing a false report and making a terroristic threat, sources said.
