Iranian athlete refuses to shake hands with Kate at Paralympics

Kate Middleton was given a “cultural snub” when a Paralympian refused to shake her hand, it emerged today.

The Duchess of Cambridge was presenting gongs in the Stratford stadium on Sunday night to discus throwers in front of 80,000 fans.

But after hanging a silver around the neck of Iranian Mehrdad Karam Zadeh, 40, he kept his hands clamped firmly to his chest.

Kate, 30, did not extend her hand to be clutched.

British winner Aled Davies, 21, and China’s Lezheng Wang, who got bronze, both warmly embraced the royal from the podium.
