Parents of Leiby Kletzky, welcome birth of new baby girl
The parents of slain 8-year-old Leiby Kletzky have a new baby girl.
The infant was born Friday morning at Maimonides Hospital to Nachman and Esther Kletzky, a family friend revealed.
The newborn will be officially named Saturday during a ceremony at the family’s Borough Park synagogue.
“The family is very excited. I spoke to the father. He is a proud new dad,” said the friend, who asked not to be named because he did not have permission to speak.
“It is a new year and new beginnings.”
A spokesman for the hospital also confirmed the birth, which means the Kletzkys now have six girls.
The birth is a welcome bit of joy for the family, which had to cope with the horrifying July 11 abduction and slaying of their only son, Leiby, last July.
The Borough Park boy was walking home from camp for the first time when he became lost and asked 35-year-old Levi Aron for help.
Aron first took little Leiby to his home in Kensington, and confessed to investigators that he panicked the next day after seeing posters for the missing child.
He then drugged and smothered the boy and dismembered the body. Aron stuffed most of the remains in a suitcase that he threw in a Dumpster, but he kept Leiby’s feet in his freezer, police said.
After a furious manhunt, investigators found Aron and discovered the nightmarish crime scene.
The grieving parents received visits from Mayor Bloomberg and senior rabbis from Israel while they sat shiva.
Aron was sentenced to 40 years to life after an August plea deal.
