Yeshiva Student Busted Smuggling iPhones

A Bnei Brak talmid yeshiva was apprehended by customs agents at Ben-Gurion International Airport after he was found to be smuggling 30 iPhone 5s into Israel. T

he value of the 30 phones in Israel is about 150,000 NIS. He tried smuggling the smartphones in on his body, sewn into a tzitzis undershirt that he was wearing.

The suspect arrived on a flight from New York City and he headed directly to the Green Line. He attracted the suspicion of agents, who are trained to detect nervous individuals and read body language.

He was taken for a full body scan at which time they detected the phones.

The inspection showed the tailor made vest which contained pockets for the 30 phones that were carried alone, without the accompanying components.

He told agents he owns a toy store and he planned selling the phones in the store. When asked about the vest, he told customs agents that a family member sewed it for him.
