Hebrew printing of ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ sells out

The "mommy porn" novel "Fifty Shades of Grey" by E.L. James, which has taken the world by storm, is also proving a bit hit in Israel, after the Hebrew version of the book was launched on Sunday.

All 50,000 copies printed were already sold out by this morning. "Yediot Books," which has published the Hebrew translation of the book is printing more to keep up with the enormous demand.

The success of the book is no surprise considering the vast sells overseas. "Fifty Shades of Grey" which was first published in June 2011 has sold 40 million copies in the US alone, and 10 million copies in the UK where it was first published. E.L. James is British.

The success of sales in Israel was helped greatly by the enormous promotional buzz by "Yediot Ahronot" in its weekend edition ahead of the launch.

"Fifty Shades of Grey" is part of a trilogy and movie rights to the books have been sold to Universal Pictures and Focus Features.
