Fugitive wanted in first New York City murder of 2013 nabbed in Ohio
The man wanted for committing the first murder of 2013 has been brought back to New York after 15 days on the lam, police say.
Raymond Mayrant, 25, was picked up in Warren, Ohio, last weekend for gunning down NYPD school crossing guard Elzina Brown on Jan. 3 in the Bronx.
Brown was shot and killed inside the Monroe Houses on Story Ave. when she jumped in between Mayrant and her daughter Diamond Dunn after the suspected shooter whipped out a gun. Mayrant has a daughter with Dunn, friends said.
Mayrant allegedly blasted the church-going Public School 100 crossing guard, then shot Dunn in the face. Dunn survived the shooting but has extensive facial injuries, friends said.
NYPD detectives took Mayrant to the 43rd Precinct stationhouse this afternoon, where he’s facing charges on murder, attempted murder and weapons possession.
