WATCH: Cops shoot window smasher in Calif.

Video recorded outside a Carl's Jr. in Monterey Park in California shows police shoot a man who allegedly broke windows at the fast food joint. He later died from his injuries.

Graphic video posted online captured the shocking moment cops shot and killed a man outside a fast food joint in California Monday morning.

Police were called to the Carl's Jr. in Monterey Park around 9:30 a.m. after receiving a report that the unidentified man was breaking windows at the restaurant, according to KTLA 5 News.

When he emerged from the fast food place, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said in a news release they ordered him to drop what they described as a three-foot metal bar.

When he refused, they attempted to Taser him, the news release said. Police say he then swung the bar twice at an officer, causing the cops to open fire.

The man was shot five times, KTLA 5 News reported. He was rushed to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The video, posted to YouTube, shows the scene through a raindrop-littered window.

The man, seen in a dark hoodie and wearing a white cap, exits the Carl's Jr. carrying a long object that appears to be a sledgehammer. Police have their weapons drawn, and can be heard ordering him to "put your hands up."

Moments later, the man looks to be hit with the Taser, which does not appear to affect him as he yanks out the wires.

The video then shows the man stop and turn on the police officer behind him. Seconds later, he's gunned down.

He does not appear to swing the metal bar in the video.

Officials are expected to release the man's name once family is notified. An investigation into the shooting is ongoing, police said.
