Angry: Ellen Barkin took to Twitter to complain about being shoved by an NYPD officer
Outspoken actress Ellen Barkin saw in 2012 with an angry rant on Twitter against an NYPD officer she claims aggressively 'shoved' her out of the way.
The Another Happy Day star then told 'goose-stepping' New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg he was 'the violence in the city'.
Barkin, best known for her roles in Sea of Love and Switch, said she saw people from the Occupy Wall Street movement being arrested for no reason.
She said she was trying to make her way to a young girl they had 'thrown' in a police van when she was then 'threatened' and 'shoved' by an officer.
She tweeted: 'Just threatened on my street by NYPD,cop shoved me,both hands, onto sidewalk..Is it a crime 2 stand in the street in NY?WTF is going on here?'
The 57-year-old also posted: 'I have never been afraid of an NY policeman until last nite.
What I saw was random & senseless arrests and unnecessarily threatening behavior.'
I was trying 2 make my way 2 young girl they had thrown in2 the van.She was not a protester. Was not drunk. She was walking home,' she also said.
The early throes of the incident, which happened as she was walking near her apartment on 13 street and 6th avenue, were caught on video by her companion, 26-year-old actor and director Sam Levinson.
Barkin, an advocate of the Occupy Wall Street movement, later slammed City Mayor Michael Bloomberg by adding: 'F*** all of u, Bloomberg & every1 goose-stepping behind u.I cannot believe what I am seeing.U protect nothing.U ARE the violence in my city.
The arrests came as police shut down an Occupy Wall Street march near Union Square.
Protesters in Zuccotti Park pulled down metal police barricades sealing off the public park. A total of 67 people were detained.
