NYPD Rookie cops shoot 14-year-old dead after teen opened fire in Bronx

NYPD shot and killed an armed teen in the South Bronx after the suspect opened fire on the officers this morning, police sources said.

Two rookie cops responded to a call for shots fired around 3 a.m. and were fired upon, sources said.

The uniformed officers identified themselves and returned fire, killing the suspect at East 151 Street and Courtlandt Avenue, sources added.

The teen, 14, did not strike the officers, sources added.

The cops are fresh out of the police academy and were assigned to the neighborhood as part of an Impact team patrolling the high-crime area, sources said.

They were taken to Jacobi Hospital for ringing in their ears. A weapon has been recovered.

Neither the suspect nor the cops have been identified.
