Actress Anne Hathaway's recent wedding to husband Adam Shulman was officiated by both a priest and a rabbi out of respect for the bride and groom's religions.
The Dark Knight Rises star, who was raised Catholic, married her Jewish boyfriend of more than four years during a sunset ceremony on a private ranch overlooking the Pacific Ocean in Big Sur, California on Saturday (29Sep12).
Guests were advised to wear comfortable shoes in order to hike through a nature trail to the ceremony, which took place under a Jewish wedding canopy called a chuppah.
Hathaway, clad in a custom Valentino gown with a pink-tinged train and matching headband and veil, walked down the aisle and the actors exchanged vows they wrote themselves in front of two religious officials.
A source tells People magazine, "It was a very soulful, romantic ceremony. You could tell they had put a lot of thought into making it their own."
