NYPD Detective Injured At Brooklyn Traffic Stop

This white van slammed into the bumper of the black car, pinning an officer between the two vehicles

Brooklyn - A New York City police detective was seriously injured when he was hit by a van and pinned between two cars during a traffic stop in Brooklyn Friday night.

Police said the crash took place around 10:30 p.m. in the Flatbush section.

According to a report, the detective stopped a car and was standing near the rear bumper when a van rear-ended the car. The impact severely crushed the detective's legs.

Police say the unidentified detective was taken to Kings County Hospital where he was listed in serious condition. The detective was later transferred to Bellevue Hospital where he underwent surgery.

The driver of the van remained at the scene and the police are looking to see if the driver broke any laws.
