100 Naked Body Scan Images Leaked Online
LOS ANGELES - A technology website has published 100 images they said were taken by body scanner machines at the Florida Federal courthouse.
They were images that weren't supposed to be saved.
According to the report in Gizmodo said U.S. Marshals saved 35,000 images on their scanner.
The photos show each person with clothes and the image created by the scanning machine.
The website says the scanner used to create these images uses an imaging technique that does not show the controversial graphic images displayed by airport scanners.
Officials with the Transportation Security Administration said the airport scanners are different, and they continue to stress that images taken by airport scanners can't be saved.
"The (body image scanning) technology is sent to the airports without the ability to save, transmit or print the images," says spokesman Greg Soule.
"At airports, the images are examined by a security officer in a remote location, and, once the image is cleared, they're deleted."
