Man and woman charged in B'klyn 'sex kidnap' ordeal

A man and woman have been charged with kidnapping a woman in Brooklyn yesterday and allegedly trying to force her into prostitution, police sources said.

Steven Benoit, 25, and Jasmine Wilkins, 19, are accused of abducting the 28-year-old victim around 2 a.m. Monday as she was walking home on an undisclosed street in Brooklyn.

Benoit allegedly dragged the victim into his vehicle and then he and Wilkins drove her around for the next five to six hours to various locations, where Benoit attempted to force the woman to enter homes and perform sex acts on other men.

The victim repeatedly refused and was subsequently beaten, sources said.

She eventually escaped her kidnappers’ clutches and ran into a post office to seek help.

Postal police brought the woman to the 81st Precinct stationhouse in Bed-Stuy and detectives began to investigate her claims, sources continued.

Detectives eventually tracked Benoit and Wilkins to the Imperial Hotel on East New York Avenue, sources added.

At around 11 a.m. yesterday, they apprehended the duo three blocks away as they drove onto the on-ramp of the Jackie Robinson Expressway, near Pennsylvania Avenue, in Bushwick, sources said.

Benoit is charged with kidnapping, robbery, assault, criminal obstruction of breathing and menacing.

Wilkins has been hit with charges of kidnapping and robbery.
