NEW YORK—Prosecutors said they are reviewing dozens of murder convictions associated with a retired New York City police detective whose work was questioned this year when a judge threw out a man's conviction in the 1990 killing of a Brooklyn rabbi.
A spokesman for the Brooklyn District Attorney's office said Saturday that about 50 cases worked by Detective Louis Scarcella will be reopened by the office's Conviction Integrity Unit.
The review was first reported by the New York Times. A man who answered a phone listed under the name Louis Scarcella wouldn't comment Saturday.

Mr. Scarcella has previously defended his work.
