Detectives investigate the scene of a off duty police officer shot in front of a diner on East Gun Hill Road in the Bronx
An off-duty NYPD cop was shot and wounded during an argument in the parking lot of a Bronx diner early Sunday, police said.
The 43-year-old officer was hit once in the buttocks, police said. He was in stable condition at Jacobi Medical Center.
Police officials would not immediately identify the wounded officer, who was unarmed when he was shot about 5 a.m. at the Pelham Bay Diner lot.
Cops are hunting for several men in connection with the shooting.
The officer was leaving the diner with friends when the trouble started, police said. He was ushering his pals into a car when he got into the argument with at least one person. Details of the argument were not immediately known.
