David Wax, 48, and Judy Wax, 46, both of Somerset Avenue, here, were charged with kidnapping. David Wax was also charged with criminal restraint, luring, aggravated assault, theft and robbery, and Judy Wax was charged with conspiracy.
Sometime after 9 p.m. Saturday, David and Judy Wax handcuffed Yisrael Bryskman, 36, and moved him into a room at their home on Somerset Avenue before beating him and ordering him to call his family and demand money, according to Lt. William Addison.
Bryskman, of Brooklyn, N.Y., was staying in Lakewood, and was seeking employment with the Waxes when they assaulted him, said Addison.
After being dropped off in Brooklyn, Bryskman went to the hospital and was treated for a broken nose, several cuts to his head and black eyes, according to Addison.
He went to Lakewood police headquarters and reported the incident to the watch commander around 12:15 a.m. Tuesday, said Addison.
Bryskman's Palm Pilot, thumb drive, hat, coat and $200 to $300 in cash were stolen. Police don't believe the Waxes received any money from Bryskman's family.
This case is being investigated by detectives Steven Wexler and Daniel Pworkoski.
Bail was set at $750,000 for David Wax and $400,000 for Judy Wax and both are being held at the Ocean County Jail in Toms River.

ReplyDeleteI don't know all the details of this case, but that that he got a psak by a "chareidi" bes din SEEMS to have nothing to do with anything! Even if she is a moredes why hasn't he given a get? A moredes gets given a get even against her will, she doesn't get sent away without a get! Besides, did he have a hetter to to moser on wax? I don't know much and I'm sure there is much more to the story, but I'm definitely confused!
ReplyDeleteWhat is clear here is that nothing is clear. That said, no one today has the authority of kofin oso ad sheyomer rotzeh ani, against the psak of another beis din. All it provides is fodder for chilul shem shamayim
ReplyDeleteThis case sounds complicated and I think people should not be commenting when they don't know all the details. Why not wait and when all the correct details are made public, then you can comment

ReplyDeleteYou people are freaking weird! Assault is assault...period! End of story! I'm sure this all makes sense in your world, in some way, but if the man doesn't want to grant a divorce, oh well...find some other way to deal with it. She's probably been cheating on him anyway. That fat ass rabbi is lucky he didn't put his hands on me...he wouldn't have any hands left.
