Waterbury, CT - Police Chief Addresses Crime in Community

Waterbury, CT - Hundreds of people in Waterbury came out to a meeting with the police chief Wednesday night to tell him they have a serious crime problem in their neighborhood, and they want it cleaned up.

There have been a lot of robberies, burglaries, people breaking into homes, but Wednesday the police chief said he is making arrests.

This guy was in my neighbors driveway right across the street,” said Izzy Weinreb, “just trying to get into the car.”

There was standing room only at the meeting Wednesday.

“It shows that we are here,” said Menachem Karolitzky. “We are a strong community together and we are not going to let this happen.”

The police chief announced that three of the five men responsible for the beating are in custody. Two additional arrests are expected.

The Mayor says he is going to take all of the information from Wednesday night’s meeting and incorporate it into the patrols to see if they can stop the crime all together in the overlook neighborhood.
