Louise Neathway, accused of stalking Yankees GM Brian Cashman
The woman accused of stalking Yankees general manager Brian Cashman lashed out from Rikers Island on Monday, branding him a liar while admitting she had done “negative things.”
Louise Neathway’s first comments since her arrest came amid a bizarre claim — that Cashman offered to pay $15,000 to freeze her eggs, then balked because she wanted him to be a sperm donor.
In an exclusive interview, Neathway bristled when she was told that Cashman has denied having a sexual affair with her.
I think that Brian is totally trying to cover his ass, trying to deflect the real issues,” she said on the jailhouse phone.
But I’m a firm believer that the truth will prevail. He can say whatever he wants as much as he wishes. I think it’s going to reflect negatively on him.
I’ve got nothing to hide,” she added.
I’ve done some negative things but we all make mistakes. I’m not going to have him lie about me and my entire family,” she said, before the line cut out.
Neathway, 36, is at Rikers after being busted Feb. 1 for harassing Cashman and trying to shake him down.
Prosecutors say Cashman gave her $6,000, but she wanted $15,000 more for a medical procedure.
Neathway’s mother, Carolyn Meanwell, told The News that while her daughter claimed she had aborted Cashman’s baby, that wasn’t the procedure.
She claimed that in a frantic predawn call on Jan. 27, Cashman told her he had given the unemployed medical saleswoman money to pay her rent — and had promised to pay for fertility-preserving treatment.
She said he told her, “I agreed to have her eggs frozen so if she wanted to have a baby in the future, she could. But it’s all gotten out of hand because she wants me to be the [sperm\] donor.”
Meanwell said she was astounded.
I swear on my life I sat there thinking, ‘This is something out a fairy story,’ ” she said.
She claimed that during the same call, Cashman told her Neathway was “out of control” but denied having an affair.
She also claimed that Cashman manipulated her into calling 911 that day to report Neathway was “sick and needs help.”
I’m very disappointed in Brian Cashman that he would coerce a mother to such desperate measures,” Meanwell said.
Five days later, police busted the blond Brit on stalking and extortion charges.
As the Daily News reported, she had sent Cashman and others emails, threatening to tell the world she had had an abortion.
She even included a picture of an ultrasound, which turned out to be a generic scan posted on Internet pregnancy sites.
Neathway has not been indicted and her lawyers have waived the deadline for grand jury action, sources said.
Cashman — socked with divorce papers by his wife after Neathway’s arrest made headlines — will testify, a source said.
Neathway, who has a history of stalking claims and orders of protection against her, said she is “holding up” in jail.
I’m actually doing OK,” she said. “I haven’t really been crying. . . . People aren’t bullying me. I’m keeping my head, reading my book.”
The book is “44 Charles Street,” about a Manhattan art dealer who takes in boarders after a bad breakup.
It’s some sort of crappy Danielle Steele novel,” she sniffed. “Not the type of book I’m used to reading.”
