Michele Savoia
NEW YORK – A celebrity designer from New York City has gone
missing.
Michele Savoia, of the House of Savoia, was last seen early
Thursday morning inside Marquee, a club on Tenth Avenue in Manhattan.
Savoia, also known as “The Tailor,” was seen on surveillance
video leaving the club alone at around 4 a.m. No one has heard from him since.
Now, his friends and family worry his talents could be
forever gone.
“I fear the worst, I fear the worst,” said Savoia’s best
friend Felix Rodriquez.
Rodriquez told Champion he was one of the last people to see
the designer at a dinner on Wednesday.
The 55-year-old Chelsea resident was featured on CBS 2 just
last month in a story about high-end pawn shops.
Savoia explained how he used his motorcycle as collateral so
he could buy a boat, which he now lives in.
Savoia missed Valentine’s Day plans with his girlfriend,
causing Rodriquez to go check for him at the boat. Police were also at the
scene, Champion reported.
“Cops this morning, they searched the Hudson River and the
port and they found nothing – thank god – but that doesn’t mean undercurrents
didn’t play a part,” Rodriquez said.
Police wouldn’t say if they’re considering foul play in the
case, but want the public’s assistance in trying to find the designer.
Savoia’s online biography says that in addition to having
his own fashion house, he has designed costumes for productions including the
most recent revival of “Evita.”
Friends told Champion Savoia was set to start filming a
reality show in the coming months, and that it’s not like him to just
disappear.
Police are urging anyone with information regarding Savoia’s
whereabouts to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
