A woman who pleaded guilty to starving her child violated
her probation conditions, according to court proceedings in Israel.
Just four years after the “mother who starves her child”
criminal case was the talk of Israel, the woman was summoned to court again.
At a hearing today in the Jerusalem District Court, the
prosecution demanded that the court impose a prison sentence on the mother.
The mother, Y. of the Meah Shearim neighborhood in
Jerusalem, a member of the Toldot Aharon Hasidic sect, was accused of starving
her son, 3. The mother of six was accused of starving her child, who weighed
just seven kilos, and according to doctors was in danger of dying.
Now, the prosecution claims that the mother, who was
released from prison following a plea bargain agreement, violated her probation
agreement, which she signed before her release. Prosecutors are now demanding
that the woman complete her prison sentence.
In the plea bargain that was signed and approved by the
prosecutors, the woman admitted to seriously abusing her son, was required to
stay under house arrest and agreed to not be with her children for five years.
According to the prosecution, the woman was ordered to
undergo medical treatment, but she did not do so and thus violated the
agreement. The court adjourned to case for four months.
