Brooklyn, NY - A NEW YORK POST EXCLUSIVE reveals that the
daughter of retired NYPD detective Louis Scarcella, currently under
investigation by the DA’s office, has been working as a prosecutor in DA
Charles Hynes’ office for over a decade.
According to sources, 38 year-old Jacqueline Scarcella first
went to work for Hynes’ office in 2001, at a time when her now embattled father
Louis was viewed as one of the top detectives in the city, but much has changed
since then.
Louis Scarcella is now the target of an ongoing
investigation by an independent 12-member panel ordered by Hynes’ after similar
inconsistencies surfaced in Scarcella-led investigations leading to multiple
murder convictions.
One of the lynchpins triggering the Scarcella probe was the
March release of David Ranta, a small time thief who claimed he was framed by
Scarcella and who spent 23 years in prison after falsely being convicted of
murdering beloved Brooklyn Rabbi Chaskel Werzberger in 1990.
While sources confirm that Jacqueline Scarcella is not
involved in the investigation into her father, she declined to comment on the
probe, saying, “I can’t. I really can’t.”
