NY - The lawyer for a Larchmont Rabbi
accused of stopping three area motorists recently while claiming to be a police
officer has been hospitalized and diagnosed with bipolar disorder according to
a statement released by his attorney on Monday.
LOHUD.com Reports that Andrew Rubin, the attorney
representing 49 year-old Rabbi Alfredo Borodowski, who lives in White Plains
and who serves as rabbi at Congregation Sulam Yaakov in Larchmont, said that
his client has been receiving “intensive” treatment for bipolar disorder at a
local hospital where he has been an inpatient for a large chunk of the past
several weeks.
Borodowski was arrested and charged with “first-degree
impersonation” last month after he attempted to pull over a Mamaroneck woman
for driving “too slowly” in a school zone.
Borodowski’s June arrest prompted two other alleged victims
to come forward, including a 26 year-old Scarsdale man whose passenger
documented Borodowski’s antics on video.
Both subsequent cases remain under investigation by state
and local authorities.
