Rabbi Ovadia Yosef, the spiritual leader of the Shas party,
was taken to hospital on Sunday night following a deterioration in his health
condition.
Paramedics who were called to the rabbi’s home took him to
the Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital in Jerusalem. He is reportedly in stable
condition.
On Sunday morning, Rabbi Ovadia was taken to hospital after
suffering pain during the Sabbath. During his hospitalization he underwent a
series tests before being released in the afternoon to recover at home.
Rabbi Yosef was released from a previous hospitalization
last Thursday. He was hospitalized at the beginning of last week due to severe
back pains.
The rabbi underwent back surgery in July after suffering
severe pain, and his current pain could be an effect of the procedure.
