Heathrow Airport sees thousands of planes take off and land
daily as one of the busiest international airports in the world. Next week
people in Heathrow may see something quite different fly up - pop-up Sukkot
that will hopefully stay grounded!
In his quest to improve services for the community and make
things easier for people using Heathrow Airport, Rabbi Hershi Vogel, Director
of Chabad of West London and Rav of Ealing United Synagogue, has arranged for
the busy airport to have its own Sukkot.
“For the first time in its history, sukkot will be available
at the West London airport,” an excited Rabbi Vogel informed.
Rabbi Vogel, who is the Jewish Chaplain of Heathrow Airport,
has arranged for pop-up sukkot to be available in Terminal 4, Terminal 5 and
one to share between Terminals 1 and 3.
Vogel reported that for many years, passengers requiring a
Sukkah needed to travel the 20 minutes or so to use his Sukkah in Ealing.
Whilst this service is still available, there are travelers who simply do not
have the time, acknowledged Vogel and this service will specifically
accommodate them as well as staff members and anyone else who would like to use
it.
This wonderful project has been made possible through the
kind sponsorship of Kays Delicatessen in North West London, Pride Autos in
North London and an anonymous sponsor.
