Two men were killed after an explosion occured in the car
they were driving in Petah Tikva early Monday morning. Three passersby were
lightly injured in the incident, which police suspect was caused by a car bomb
being affixed to the vehicle.
Police Commissioner Tal Pikrevich, head of the Petah Tikva
police station, said the two deaths were probably related to criminal activity,
and that an investigation is underway.
"The car was burning, we couldn't get close to it at
first," said a paramedic who was at the scene. "There was a woman
standing at the entrance to a nearby building with cuts from glass shards, and
we later found a man, a woman and a three-year-old child with cuts in their
faces."
The identities of the deceased men are not yet known.
