Rabbi Yechiel Eckstein, provide food for Christmas to 1,000 needy Arab families

The International Fellowship of Christians and Jews, headed by Rabbi Yechiel Eckstein, will provide food for Christmas to 1,000 needy Arab families in five communities with large Christian populations. Families will receive food for Christmas celebrations in Jerusalem, Acre, Nazareth, Kafr Yasif, and Shfaram.

"We are pleased to provide food to help hundreds of Christian families celebrate Christmas with joy and dignity,” said Rabbi Eckstein. “We can provide lifesaving aid for the Jewish people and all of Israel’s needy citizens because of the generous support of Christians in the U.S. and Canada.

The Fellowship operates throughout the year to help the needy in all sectors, providing basic needs such as clothing, food, heat in the winter for the elderly, and more. In addition, The Fellowship initiates and supports programs targeted to help youth at risk, women, immigrants, and the elderly. The Fellowship increases food assistance during the holidays, including Rosh Hashanah, Ramadan, Christmas, and Passover.

As part of its commitment to strengthening all the people of Israel, The Fellowship helps many in the Arab sector. The Fellowship contributes to and operates dozens of projects in 70 Arab areas, providing basic necessities to the needy, heating assistance for the elderly, and care for children and youth at risk, preventing drug abuse, emergency assistance, and disaster relief. In 2011, The Fellowship has contributed more than $11 million for projects in the Arab municipalities.

The International Fellowship of Christians and Jews began in 1983 as an effort to promote better understanding and cooperation between Christians and Jews. Today it is also a prominent force for helping Israel and Jews in need worldwide.

The Fellowship is the world’s largest channel of Christian support for Israel and the charity distributing the most aid in Israel annually. Led by its founder and president Rabbi Yechiel Eckstein, The Fellowship now raises more than $110 million per year—the large majority from Christians—to assist Israel and the Jewish people through extensive aid programs and a robust communications network. The Fellowship has raised more than $800 million for this work. The organization has offices in Jerusalem, Chicago, and Toronto
