An female stalker allegedly made horrific threats of sexual violence and murder to Billy Joel's daughter, Alexa Ray, but was eventually tracked down by private detectives to woods in Minnesota where she was found naked.
According to the New York Post, Sheryl Finley, 40, of Austin, has been charged with threatening Alexa Ray Joel, 27, with terrifying messages sent from Facebook over several months.
Billy Joel was so concerned that he got in touch with Paul McCartney who recommended a private security firm to help solve the case and stop the threats.
According to court records quoted by the Post, Finley sent more than 60 messages and some mentioned 'pedophilia, sadistic-sexual behavior, violent physical assaults and murder.'
Finlay reportedly had treatment for mental issues in 2010.
Alexa's mother, supermodel Christie Brinkley, was 'terrified' that someone was going to hurt her daughter, while Billy was 'worried but focused.'
The Post reports that the 27-year-old singer, songwriter and pianist was scared to leave her Manhattan home.
Billy Joel recruited a bodyguard for his only child and then asked the former Beatle for his advice on private detectives.
According to ABC 6 News the investigators endorsed by McCartney tracked Finley's log-ins on computers at a community college and a public library in Austin, Minnesota.
When she was intercepted Finlay told authorities that the violent threats she had made were not things she wanted to do 'during this life,' according to court records reported by the Post.
Finley told officers that she hoped that Alexa Ray would not 'object to meeting with her.'
The 40-year-old has been released from jail after posting bond, but will face felony and gross misdemeanor charges.
