Following his release from a nine-year stint in prison and subsequent expulsion from the United States, rapper MC Shyne is struggling to reenter the US. Shyne believes that, should he be allowed back in the US, he’d be able to offer counsel to youth in dangerous places like Chicago, where violence and murder are rampant.
But President Barack Obama, Shyne told MTV in an interview that was published Wednesday, isn’t doing enough to help him get back into the States.
“How can he be serious about stopping violence in inner cities and promoting education in inner cities and not using Shyne?” he said.
Citing a mutual friend of his and the president, Harvard law professor Charles J. Ogletre, as proof that the president must know who he is and that he can’t get back into the States, Shyne said, “”He’s always talkin’ about he listens to hip-hop and his daughter listens to hip-hop. He knows who Shyne is, he knows I’m deported.”
The Belize-born rapper grew up in the US and was imprisoned after a shooting. He has spent time in Jerusalem, becoming an Orthodox Jew. Shyne apparently believes that it is in the president’s best interests to help him.
“Jews is powerful, so if he don’t help the Jew out he ain’t gonna be blessed,” he said of Obama. “And he ain’t doing the right thing. My voice is too powerful.”
