NYPD Increases Security By Local Jewish Institutions Amid Israel-Iran Tension
The New York City Police Department increased security at Jewish institutions throughout the city on Saturday as tensions between Israel and Iran heated up.
Police officers stood guard outside the Israeli consulate near the United Nations.
Authorities said the extra security was just a precaution and not a response to a specific threat.
The United States recently renewed concerns over an Iranian nuclear program.
White House officials said Israel, a close U.S. ally, is planning to attack Iran.
Iran's leader said his country would retaliate if such an attack is carried out.
