Police say these three men imitated cops during a robbery in Queens on Feb. 14, 2012
The NYPD say this is the Ford Expedition three alleged police impersonators drove off in after robing a check cashing store on Feb. 14, 2012.
NEW YORK – Most bandits looking to conceal their identities hide behind masks. Police say these robbers hid behind shields.
The NYPD says on Valentine’s Day, three men entered the Pay-O-Matic check cashing store on South Conduit Avenue in Rosedale. The three suspects were all wearing dark blue jackets with a “NYPD” logo on them. They were also wearing police-type shields around their necks. Two of the men wore blue jeans, one wore tan khaki pants. Two of the suspects wore Yankee caps and all three wore sunglasses.
Police say the suspects told the folks there they were detectives and proceeded to take cash from the shop.
After heisting the money, they drove off in a dark, late ’90′s Ford Expedition with a broken rear passenger window. The window was covered with black plastic duct-taped to the vehicle. The SUV may have had Virginia plates, police say.
If you recognize the suspects or their vehicle, you’re asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-5777-TIPS (8477). You can also submit your tip via the Crime Stoppers website or by texting it to 274637 (CRIMES) and then entering TIP577.
