Mary Cashman, Wife Of Yankees GM, Files For Divorce

Alleged stalker Louise Neathway, who a club-hopping pal called "Loulou," was the center of attention during Fleet Week in 2008.

The wife of Yankee general manager Brian Cashman isn’t giving him any more chances.

Scorned wife Mary Cashman, 42, filed for divorce in Stamford, Conn., Superior Court on Friday seeking to split with “B.M. Cashman.”

The filing came the same day that sources revealed Cashman tried to get rid of an alleged mistress who authorities said was blackmailing him by urging her mother to have her committed.

A lawyer close to Cashman summoned Louise Neathway’s mother to his office for a meeting last week and presented her with an affidavit stating that her daughter was mentally unstable, the sources said.

“He told the mother she needed help,” one of the sources said. “He suggested to her that she try to have her committed.”

Step one, the lawyer told Caroline Meanwell, was to call 911 and tell the operator that Neathway “needs help.”

But when Meanwell called on Jan. 27, the operator told her that Neathway needed to call them herself because she’s an adult, the sources said.

Neathway’s mom left the meeting without signing the affidavit. Later that day, the lawyer called her and pressed her to try calling 911 again, sources said.

He assured Meanwell this time police would respond because he “knows a cop” who will make sure it happens.

Meanwell refused, sources said.

The revelation came a day after Neathway, a 36-year-old single mom with a history of stalking, was arrested for harassing and extorting money from the Yankees general manager.

Cashman, 44, couldn’t be reached to corroborate the account, which comes from sources close to the investigation. His lawyer, Eric Creizman, could not be reached for comment and it wasn’t clear whether he was involved.

Neathway, a British citizen who also goes by the name Louise Meanwell, is jailed on Rikers Island and charged with extortion and harassment.

Cashman, a father of two who is separated from his wife of 16 years, has been the Bombers’ GM since 1998.

A former Neathway party pal, who said she used to club hop with “Loulou,” said the accused blackmailer knows Cashman and used to hang with some Yankee players.

“She used to be gorgeous, a pretty wild child,” said the pal, who asked not to be identified. “She claimed she had an affair with (a former Yankee slugger).”

The friend, who fell out with Neathway two years ago, said the woman’s personality ran hot and cold.

“She’s like Jekyll and Hyde, especially when she gets drunk,” she said. “She can turn on you.”

Prosecutors say Neathway is a con artist who extorted $6,000 from Cashman and tried to hit him up for an additional $15,000 or more.

Neathway’s lawyers contend their client is the real victim of a romance that began in April and “ended badly.”

Just last week, sources said, Cashman took Neathway to the Landmarc restaurant in TriBeCa to celebrate her 36th birthday. Workers at the eatery didn’t recall seeing Cashman or the woman.

Neathway has filed a complaint with NYPD Internal Affairs Bureau alleging that Cashman had cop friends investigate her criminal past, sources said.

Her rap sheet includes two open upstate warrants for harassment. She is also on probation in New Jersey in a stalking-related case, prosecutors said.
