Ross Reisner Killed By Gunshot Through Window

                                                       Ross Reisner

SETAUKET, N.Y.  – A Long Island man was shot and killed by a bullet that came through the window of his Long Island home, Suffolk County police said.

Ross Reisner, 50, was shot in the chest around 8:45 p.m. Tuesday at his home on Upper Sheep Pasture Road in Setauket, police said.

He was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Someone in the house told police the gunshots were fired through a window.

The incident has some neighbors rattled.

“Very upsetting because they are wonderful, upstanding citizens next door,” one woman told WCBS 880′s Sophia Hall.

Reisner was a fixture in the equestrian community on Long Island, 1010 WINS’ Mona Rivera reported. He rode in horse shows and trained riders at a horse farm in Mattituck.

“He’s very involved,” Hamptons Classic executive director Shanette Barth Cohen told Rivera. “He was very well-liked and it’s a real shock and sad for the whole Long Island equestrian community.”

“He loved to teach and loved to ride,” Reisner’s business partner Bobby Ginsberg said. “He’s a very likeable person. It’s just unbelievable to me that anyone would harm him.”

Colleagues said Reisner lived with his long-time partner at the Setauket home where he was murdered, Rivera reported.

Detectives are asking anyone with information to call the Homicide Squad at 631-852-6392 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
