Miami Heat star LeBron James tackles fan in celebration after half court shot nets $75,000
Call it the hook and the hug.
After Michael Drysch hit an awkward looking half court hook shot Friday night he found himself underneath 250 pounds of NBA superstar.
LeBron James was so excited after the 50-year-old computer technician from Illinois hit the high-arcing shot that he raced out to midcourt to jump in the arms of his new pal. The unlikely duo ended up in a heap on the AmericanAirlines Arena court.
Drysch, who was randomly selected to take the shot by the Heat star's LeBron James Family Foundation, netted $75,000 for his miraculous shot.
"I was watching it the whole time," the three-time NBA MVP told NBA TV after the Heat beat the Detroit Pistons, 110-88, of Drysch's effort. "He went for the hook shot, he went for the old hook shot.
"I (saw) it the whole way, I was like 'that got a chance, that got a chance' ... when it went down I was just as excited as him. I was just as surprised as him."
Drysch said he made about one percent of his practice shots in the days leading up to his big moment.
"It's a great way to meet somebody like that," Drysch said. "I had no idea he was coming over to me like that."
Drysch was flown to Miami by LeBron's foundation after being selected in a random drawing.
"It's all for a good cause," LeBron said. "So I was real excited to give away $75,000, for sure."
Drysch said he would likely use some of the money to pay some bills and fix his car. He might need to shell out a few bucks on a few chiropractic treatments as well.
