Liev Schreiber gets into character as Hasidic Jewish man

As a hands-on father, he is hardly seen without his wife and children.

So it’s no surprise that family man Liev Schreiber was spending time with his son Alexander on the set of his upcoming movie on Saturday.

Despite having to perform for his role as a Hasidic Jew, Liev easily switched to daddy mode as his young boy visited him as he filmed Fading Gigolo.

The five-year-old seemed right at home in the world of motion pictures, taking in the creative atmosphere as he sat in his father’s arms.

The blonde stayed snug as he donned a hooded coat and UGG boots in the West Village in New York City.

He might have wanted to look away as his dad got-up-close-and-personal for the John Turturro film.

Wearing the uniform of the Williamsburg, Brooklyn Shomrim patrol, his part required him to stop a fight when a guy threatened him with a baseball bat after a car accident.

As Ode, Liev plays a volunteer for the Williamsburg Shomrim - a licensed neighbourhood watch for Hasidic Jewish communities.

Wearing a yarmulke and the ringlet sideburns characteristic of a Hasidic Jewish man, the 45-year-old was dressed in a customary tallit katan, white t-shirt, black trousers, and loafers.

The role hits close to home for Schreiber, whose mother was born into a Brooklyn working-class household of Jewish Communist immigrants.

John Turturro directs and stars in the film about a book store owner (Woody Allen) who convinces his friend (Turturro) that a fortune can be made by becoming a professional gigolo.

The comedy, due out next year, also stars Sofía Vergara and Sharon Stone and it's the fifth film for the actor-turned-director.

Back in 2005, Turturro helmed the musical Romance & Cigarettes featuring an all-star cast, including James Gandolfini, Susan Sarandon, Kate Winslet, and Christopher Walken.

Vanessa Paradis was also filming for the project and at the end of shooting she changed back to her boots from heels.
