‘Hit-run’ NYPD cop suspended

A veteran NYPD lieutenant was suspended yesterday after he was charged with hitting a pedestrian in Brooklyn and leaving the scene.

It took cops 11 weeks to connect Elton Cohn to the July 19 incident that injured an 18-year-old woman.

Sources said she was crossing at the corner of Knickerbocker Avenue and Grattan Street in Williamsburg and suffered minor injuries when she was clipped by the off-duty lieutenant’s car.

Officials said he also failed to stop at a stop sign.

Cohn, a 15-year-veteran, has received numerous awards, commendations and medals, including a Community Officer of the Year prize.
