Crime Stoppers offers $2,500 reward in abduction case

New York State Crime Stoppers is offering a $2,500 reward for information leading to the person behind an abduction Saturday in the Inwood section of Manhattan.

A woman was waiting to be picked up by a representative of a friend at the intersection of Dyckman Avenue and Broadway when she was approached by a man she mistakenly believed to be her ride, authorities said.

After getting into his car, she realized that she had entered the wrong vehicle, but the man refused to let her out and continued to drive to New Rochelle via Interstate 95, authorities said.

While approaching Exit 16, the woman escaped, jumping from the moving car.

The suspect is believed to be a black man in his 30s with a goatee, officials said. He stands between 5-feet-4-inches and 5-feet-8-inches and is said to have been well-groomed and well-dressed. He was driving a while BMW sport utility vehicle – likely an X5 model – with dark, tinted windows, officials said.

Anyone with any information about the incident is urged to call the Crimes Stoppers Tips Line at 1-866-313-TIPS (8477) or the New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigations in Hawthorne at 914-769-2600.
