Haredim assault woman in Beit Shemesh

Woman trying to post fliers attacked by haredim who hurl stones at her car, puncture her tires

A woman sustained minor wounds on Tuesday after being attacked by haredi men while trying to put up posters of Mifal Hapyis, Israel's national lottery, in Beit Shemesh. A police complaint has been filed.

While searching for a place post her posters, which did not include images of women, several haredi men surrounded her car, punctured the vehicle's tires, stole her car keys and hurled stones at the vehicle. One of the stones hit the woman's head.

A police force called to the scene by the woman rescued her and arrested three suspects. The other assailants fled the scene. Police are searching for them.

Beit Shemesh has become the center of clashes between haredi extremists and residents fighting women's exclusion.
