Former Jewish youth worker charged with child sex offences

A former youth worker from the orthodox Jewish Yeshivah community in Melbourne has been charged with a string of child sex offences against boys.

Aron Ezriel Kestecher, 28, of East St Kilda, appeared in the Melbourne Magistrates Court on Friday for a committal mention hearing.

The former Chabad Youth leader faces six charges from alleged incidents between 2009 and 2010, including the sexual penetration of a child and indecent acts with a child.

His alleged offences took place at a unit in East St Kilda and involved a 16-year-old boy and boy aged under 16.

In one of the alleged incidents, Mr Kestecher, then aged 24, kissed the neck of a boy.

On Friday the court was told a new complainant had come forward, resulting in extra charges and fresh police investigations.

Mr Kestecher is not in custody and was not required to enter a plea.

He will reappear in court next month.
