Israeli Army Vet Pedals Bike-Powered Pontoon Craft From Hoboken To Manhattan

Hoboken, NJ - It took an Israeli army veteran 13 minutes on Thursday to pedal his bicycle-powered pontoon craft across the Hudson River from Hoboken to Manhattan.

NJ.com reports that 41 year-old Judah Schiller, a bike enthusiast and surfer from Mill Valley, CA, said he made Thursday’s trip across the harbor to promote his alternative transportation company BayCycle Project.

Schiller said he launched BayCycle as way to promote water cycling both recreationally and as a legitimate green transportation alternative.

Followed by a spotter boat, it took Schiller 13 minutes to get from Pier 13 in Hoboken to Manhattan where family friends were on hand to greet him.

Calling it the “next frontier in biking,” Schiller said, “I have been setting out to show the country that there is a whole aquatic frontier to biking that is ready to explore.”

Schiller made a similar trip across the San Francisco Bay a week ago, and has upcoming events scheduled in Miami, Los Angeles, Seattle, Portland, and Hawaii.
